chrome_datasaver_imageGoogle’s developers have been busily working away on another cool feature to improve your web experience.

Since 2014 Google’s Chrome division have been working on a way to reduce your bandwidth usage by forwarding your traffic through their servers. This process is know as Data Saver and when enabled on your device can significantly reduce the amount of data you use.

What devices does this work for?

Currently Data Saver can be enabled in chrome for both Android and iOS . In addition if you have a windows PC you can download an official extension from Google that enabled Data Saver on your desktop.

Where can I find out more?

I’ve recently published an article on SitePoint that talks about Data Saver in depth. If you’re interested in finding out exactly how this process works you should give it a read.
